PRANG AGRO RESOURCES
Established in 2017, Prang Agro Resources Ltd. is a joint venture headquartered in Accra.
The company’s primary business includes the production, sourcing and marketing of agricultural products.
Prang Agro Resources is developing a 12,000 ha concession located in Pru West District, Bono East Region, Ghana.
The goal of Prang Agro Resources is to ensure that the majority of its staple crops are circulated within the Ghanaian market in order to supply local food demand. The company is also developing projects related to the export of agricultural products creating general socio-economic gains. Further local value creation is generated by the company’s innovations in agricultural sustainable development being implemented in accordance with agricultural best practices.

DEVELOPMENT GOALS
Prang Agro Resources contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations for 2015-2030. We use sustainable approaches to managing our land and share best practices with local communities. The company also actively invests in social projects that aim to close the poverty gap and environmental projects focused on the protection of biodiversity.
The company is also a member of Global Shea Alliance and contributes to the development of a sustainable shea supply chain in the region of Prang.

PRODUCTS
SOYBEANS
Soybeans are processed for their oil and for the animal feed industry.
A smaller percentage of this country-wide crop is processed for human consumption and made into products including soy milk, soy flour, soy protein, tofu and many retail food products. Soybeans are also used in many non-food (industrial) products.
ONIONS
Despite being widely consumed, onion production in Ghana falls well short of demand with imports coming in from neighbouring Niger and Burkina Faso even during the peak local production season.
Therefore, we are working with local offtakes to supply the local market with quality products.
MAIZE
Maize is an important food crop in Ghana, accounting for more than 50 per cent of the country’s total cereal production.
Economically, almost every part of the crop is significant in Ghana. That is, a large variety of both food and non-food products can be produced from the leaves, grain, tassel, cob and the stalk of the maize plant.
SORGHUM
Sorghum is an important crop in Ghana for both food security and as a source of income for households.
The crop has been prioritised by Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) as it is drought tolerant and can withstand high temperatures. Sorghum remains important for local food security and its potential as an industrial crop is also rising due to its use as a substitute for imported barley by the brewing industry in this country.
SHEA BUTTER
Widely used in the food and cosmetics industries, shea butter is a high-quality seed fat that is produced from shea nuts.
The presence of shea trees on our concession gives us a unique opportunity to develop fully traceable shea butter production while ensuring fair compensation for the women that collect and process the nuts.
